The Scranton Civic Ballet was founded in 1978 by Helen M. Gaus as a regional resident ballet company with its home in Scranton, PA. The overall mission of this non-profit organization is to educate their members and the public in the art of dance, especially ballet. Their second mission is to train area students in the art and discipline of classical ballet to give them the opportunity to pursue a professional career if they so desire.  The third mission is to bring the talents of well-known artists, choreographers and master teachers into northeast Pennsylvania for our students as well as our audiences to enjoy. The professional standard of instruction at Scranton Civic Ballet is focused on achieving a disciplined technique focused on strength, flexibility, coordination, grace, musicality, body alignment and poise. It is our priority to teach students responsibility and respect for their art, their teachers, and themselves.
