ROBERT ZALOGA

Assistant Artistic Director

Robert Zaloga is the Assistant Artistic Director of Scranton Civic Ballet Company. A current SCBC Principal Dancer, Zaloga was named Assistant Artistic Director in August 2020.


Zaloga holds an extensive repertory of leading roles which include Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Franz in Coppélia, Prince in Cinderella Divertissement, El Capitan in Stars and Stripes, Lucien in Paquita, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, Pas de Trois in Midnight Masquerade, Snow King, Waltz of the Flowers Pas de Deux, The Nutcracker Prince and Cavalier in Helen Gaus’ The Nutcracker, and most recently, originating the leading role in Helen Gaus’ Serenade for Strings.


As an educator, Zaloga served as a faculty member with the Civic Dance Centre beginning in 2016, until his promotion to Assistant Artistic Director. He served as a guest choreographer for the Kiss Theater Company of Wilkes Barre's production of Newsies in 2021.


Born in Moosic, Pennsylvania, Zaloga studied at the Civic Dance Centre before entering Scranton Civic Ballet Company in 2014. He has furthered his training outside of Scranton at some of America’s most prestigious ballet companies and schools including American Ballet Theatre in New York City, Boston Ballet School, School of Pennsylvania Ballet, Walnut Hill School for the Arts and the Performing Arts Institute.


Over the years, Zaloga has trained with many famed instructors and choreographers such as Sascha Radetsky, Ethan Stiefel, Charles Askeguard, Margaret Tracey, Peter Stark, Michael Owen, Russell Clarke, Barbara Weisberger, Stella Abrera, and more.


Zaloga is a guest artist of the Wyoming Seminary Dance Company under the direction of Mrs. Bernardine Vojtko, joining in 2014. He served as a guest artist for Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic production of Peter and the Wolf, performing as the Wolf. In the spring of 2020, Zaloga received the Barbara Weisberger Dance Award at Wyoming Seminary (founder of the Pennsylvania Ballet).
